Descriptive Writing

Write an opening paragraph for a short story using the above picture as your prompt.

Whoosh! The waves onto the yellow sand like symbols in an orchestra, splashing onto my feet refreshingly like on a hot summer’s day. Except the only difference is that it’s not daytime, it’ the evening with a dark blue sky and grey clouds floating above. I think I see a man in the distance, yeah that’s right he’s got a yellow hat, Turkish blue shirt, and shorts with dark grey boots. I see him holding a big fishing rod probably one or two that’s probably pointing at a forty-five degree angle. The man’s probably in his forty or fifties, and looks like he’s having a great time, relaxing and fishing. It just makes me remember of the last time I went fishing but that’s a different story.  By: Ayrton Alburquerque

Crash, bang went the water crashing against the rock my dad and my uncle were fishing from a very high point on a huge brown rock with dark green moss coming through it. It was a wet and rainy day but the sun was still shinning its way through the day, the wind was so strong it nearly blew my dad’s brother off the cliff.
They had buckets next to them full of fish. The fish were all small and very bony they didn’t have much flesh on them. Their eyes were green, blue and brown some were even yellow, they all scared me.
Then all of a sudden, my dad called for his brother he had asked him to help him wind up his rod, this didn’t sound good to me. By: Alessia Rodio

After work Peter always went fishing. Peter loved fishing. He sometimes went out on his new blue and green shiny boat. It was the fanciest boat the ocean. Peter flung his new slick high performance fishing rod into the rough ocean. Peter got something huge and strong caught on his line the huge thing on his line was coming straight towards him. It was speeding towards Peter faster than a racing car. A fin popped out of the water. Everyone ran away from the rough water and left everything they brought down to the beach. They looked like chickens with their heads cut off. The thing on Peter’s line was almost on the burning yellow sand. Now Peter knew why everyone was running away. It was a shark on Peter’s line and it was coming straight for him.  By: Sarah Scott
